Milton ChoristersRachel is delighted to be in her seventh season as Artistic Director of the Milton Choristers.
Our 2022/2023 season opened at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton with Gloria! Magnificat! and more featuring Vivaldi's Gloria, John Rutter's Magnificat and a Christmas carol sing along. We were thrilled to be joined by the Paskke String Quartet, soprano Marion Samuel-Stevens and mezzo-soprano, Cassandra Warner. The season closed on May 6th, 2023 with It's Coronation Day! featuring music from the British Isles including Handel's Coronation Anthem, The King shall rejoice, and many hits by the Beatles, Queen and David Bowie. We were once again joined by the amazing Paskke String Quartet, oboist Chieh-Ying Lu and soprano Anne Marie Ramos. All orchestrations for the season and the choral arrangement of Danny Boy were prepared by Artistic Director, Rachel Cleland. Our 2021/2022 season was filled with pure joy as we were able to return to in person rehearsals after a year and a half of online learning sessions during the Covid pandemic. The season began with two performances of A December to Remember - a collection of music reflecting the wonder and blessings of the holiday season. Our Spring concert, Spring...Into Hollywood! featured exuberant, tuneful and boisterous choruses from musicals, movies and operas including Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady, The Greatest Showman, Pitch Perfect and Jersey Boys. I am so grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their Resilient Communities Fund which enabled us to safely return to in-person rehearsals and performances. Next season will open with our biennial performance of Handel's Messiah performed at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton and will feature Mezzo-Soprano Cassandra Warner, Tenor Paul Williamson, and accompanied by the Paskke Chamber Orchestra (Soprano and Baritone TBC). |
